It’s time to stop our limiting beliefs and come to a place of sanity, love and excitement about life, work and ourselves.
The human mind is not capable of not thinking – especially on a subconscious level. Our minds can be an emotional tsunami, whether we want it to be or not, and it influences well, literally, everything!
Have you ever felt heavy after having a conversation with a certain individual? A fault finder. They focus on all the things that are wrong in their lives rather than being thankful for the things that are right. The truth is, we restrict ourselves in every area of our lives when we allow negative thoughts to have too much influence, and we actually influence those around us too!
What do you see when you look at a 4-year-old? Pride? Joy? Excitement? Our thoughts seemed to be entirely optimistic when we were young, but as time passed, we have filled our minds with doubt, fear, and self-deprecating feelings.
The pandemic has also forced humanity to adjust to a different way of life and the resulting economic recession have negatively affected many people’s mental health and created new barriers for those with pre-existing mental health conditions.
We idolise individuals who are massive believers in the power of positivity – those who have a positive mindset. We see miraculous changes in their lives because they have switched their mindset and thoughts to be more positive. Some of us despise them, quite frankly. We all dream about a carefree day and mentioning positive thinking sounds easier than it truly is – right?
Truth be told, we settle for things in our lives that don’t make us happy. That career. That relationship. That lifestyle. We complain about how awful it all is, rather than focusing on the good in these areas and identifying specific changes that could be made to improve our “situations.” We find ourselves downgrading our aspirations to match our realities.
Let’s consider this for a second: Instead of downgrading our aspirations and feeling negative every day, we could upgrade our self-belief and enhance our positive thoughts to meet our vision and our goals instead?
It can be tricky to change entrenched patterns of negative thinking and becoming a positive person may seem challenging – you’ve probably wondered whether you’re just immune to the power of positivity. Good news. This is a choice, and the outcome will definitely reflect that. The power of positive thinking is available for everyone to lear.
Don’t be that fault finder. Just don’t. You don’t want to be asparagus whilst the rest are candy.
Life is not always a walk in the proverbial park and positive thinking isn’t about being happy every minute of every day. A good mindset integrates the positive and the negative. Negative emotions have their place, and they need to be felt and dealt with but do not give them the power to control your entire being.
While it may not be an overnight process, positive thinking is a worthwhile daily exercise to be able to deal with stress more constructively, which, in turn, has both mental and physical health benefits.
